Train yourself to Act Normal

Changing the world is a lofty goal. Changing your idea of change, however, is not only doable, but also surprisingly easy. Act Normal is a daily practice of transformation that can start with a single, simple act of kindness. Why wait for a holiday or "special occasion" in order to give? Compassion can be an everyday opportunity that comes in all shapes and sizes. It doesn't have to be a weighty check mailed off in an envelope, and it doesn't have to induce guilt by being clamored for on TV. It's alive and awake inside of you, and you can enact it in any way you can conceive: soup for a sick friend, leaf-raking for a neighbor, volunteer work at a pet shelter. No gesture is too small, no offering unworthy. Incorporating the spirit of giving into your life means making it a part of your daily routine, like putting on your shoes or brushing your teeth. No longer banished to a couple days a year, charitable acts can become your new normal, and when linked to everyone else's new normal, can promote real change - not just the kind in your pocket, but the kind in the history books.

Start Acting Normal.

Getting the idea? Good. The Act Normal Trainer isn't only about opportunities. It's about action. Consider this your place to start creating space in your life for more compassion. We're here to guide, record, and applaud your efforts, until they feel less like "efforts" and more like instincts - and we'll stick around even after that happens. We've devised the "50/50 Challenge" as a fun and realistic way to start working toward your normal - a beginner's workout that yields big results. You can also build community while helping your community, by joining a campaign with people from your town, place of business, or other network, to work toward a common goal. Normal is contagious, after all.
